Becher Chase

The Becher Chase is run over the same fences as Aintree's most famous race the Grand National. The horses and jokeys use this race as a trial for the real event. The event has this name because one of the obsticles to be jumped in the race is the Becher's Brook, named after Martin Becher. The Becher Chase was first established in 1992, when a second race meeting was introduced at Aintree.Before this event the only meeting at Aintree was the Grand National.

The Becher Chase is a Listed National Hunt chase in Great Britain which is open to horses aged five years or older. The chase runs distance of about 3 miles and 2 furlongs (5,230 metres), with a total of are 21 fences to be jumped. It is a handicap race, and takes place each year in the winter months of November or December.
